Place has always been a central theme in my work. In the last two years, I drew a lot of colored pencil landscapes, eventually overlaying them with decaying neon relics from oil’s heyday. I think a lot about the finiteness of oil, and how that leaves the United State littered with inviable suburban landscapes.
Further exploring this theme in other realms of my life, I like learning about adaptive reuse, being involved in community agriculture projects, and serving on the board of local civic associations to build climate & community resilience.
